Landscape Ontario ChaptersLandscape Ontario is made up of nine regional chapters who meet to discuss issues, network and organize some pretty amazing projects that get the industry together and benefit local communities. Each chapter has its own board with elections held annually for the various positions.
Q: Who can come to a Chapter meeting?
Everyone is welcome to attend a meeting to see first-hand the many learning opportunities available through Landscape Ontario. Not a member or know a non-member? Come join us!
Q: When do Chapter meetings run?
Chapter meetings run from September through April. Meetings take a break for the summer when member companies are at their busiest times for work.
Q: How often to Chapters meet?
Chapters are required to meet a minimum of five (5) times per year. A meeting can be defined as any event that includes professional development, networking or Green for Life promotion at the local level. These include home and garden shows, golf tournaments or other special events, as well as educational meetings.
Q: Where fo I find more information on Chapter events?
For up-to-date information, visit the chapter pages at HortTrades.com, read the Coming Events page in Landscape Ontario magazine or check LO’s weekly e-news.
Q: Who do I contact if I want to get in touch with a Chapter?
Kaneisha De Leon acts as the facilitator for all chapters, but some regions have their own staff who coordinate their events.
Q: How do I get more involved with a Chapter?
There are 4 ways to get involved:
- Attend: Come and see first-hand the many learning opportunities available through your local chapter.
- Volunteer: Chapters always welcome volunteers to sit on their committees or on the Chapter Board. The Boards help set the direction for each chapter. They select the meeting topics, community projects and are the representatives for their respective region.
- Speakers: Get in front of the attendees as the feature speaker for the meeting. Please send topic descriptions to Myscha Stafford. These will be circulated to the chapters as reference when they are selecting their topics for the coming meeting series.
- Sponsor: Each chapter offers different sponsorship structures ranging in price. Some levels will offer the display of promotional material at the meeting, others offer time to directly address meeting attendees.
Chapter Boards select their meeting topics in the summer months to plan for the upcoming year. If you have a topic you would like to present, please contact Jaleesa Rhoden with a description of your topic, any speaker fees, a brief speaker bio and any other information you feel is relevant. You will then be added to our speaker list.
Q: I want to volunteer to be on a Chapter Board
Great! Please contact the local Chapter coordinator. You will be given access to the chapter’s shared Google Drive. Please read over the Chapter Board Policies and Procedures. This will give you a better understanding of how the chapter’s function, elections, roles and responsibilities of the board etc.
Q: I want to sponsor a Chapter meeting
Thank you for your support! Each Chapter has different sponsorship opportunities for their meetings. Special events have their own sponsorship structure and will be posted on the event web page. Meeting sponsorship details can be found here.
